The Road Ahead

I wrote this poem in June and then forgot all about it.  I am glad I am in a happier place now.

I’m a broken person
I can’t seem to get it right
How do I let in the sunshine
How can I keep out the night?

I’m blinking my hazards
Don’t get to close
My engine’s overheating
This time I might explode

And not even I can explain how I feel
I’ve felt more hurt than I know how to heal
And I don’t want to look backwards
But I don’t know how to go forwards

All alone at the top of a hill
Telling everyone I’m just fine.
I’ll shift to neutral cause i don’t care
The problems, the curses are mine

Go from here. don’t leave me alone.
I want you to listen, but you can’t know
Beg me, persuade me, fight for my heart
Forget me, reject me, just let me go.

And I wish I knew what to do when I feel
Will you hurt me more, will you help me heal
The road ahead’s through night and day
Will you come with me?  Will you sneak away?
